Sometimes it makes sense buying hotel points to pay for a specific hotel reservation. To determine exactly when it makes sense to buy Hyatt Bonus points or pay with cash, I’ve developed the ‘Hyatt Points Calculation Tool’. The calculation tool calculates the price required to buy a certain amount of points. It takes into account promotion points or a promotion discount percentage. You can include the points you already have and want to include in the reservation.
The Points Calculation Tool
Please go ahead and use the tool yourself:
- Specify the points you want to purchase, in the ‘select bonus points’ field.
- The system now calculates the purchase price in USD
- Specify the number of promotion points or promotion discount percentage if applicable. Hyatt recently ran a 20% discount promotion, so in that case you would want to specify ’20’ here.
- Then specify the number of extra points you already have and want to use for your reservation as well as the number of nights for your booking.
The Hyatt Points Calculation Tool will calculate the average price per night based on the amount of points you want to buy. This will allow you to easily compare this with the average cash rate per night, and make a decision whether it’s worth it buying points for this specific reservation.
Also please consider that paying a room with points comes with other benefits. Two major benefits are that Hyatt will waive the resort fee – if applicable – and parking fee!
Please use this link to Purchase Hyatt Points. To logon, you’ll need your World of Hyatt ID, first name, last name, and registered Email.
Let me know in the comments, if the tool helped you with your decision to buy points.
Also please read my review of the Park Hyatt Zurich and Park Hyatt Chennai; two Park Hyatt hotels, but one being a category 8 and the other one being a category 1!
links on this page may pay me a commission – as always, thanks for your support if you use them. You’ll not pay a higher price!
