Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi – better than Park Hyatt Dubai?

Last week I stayed at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi. I was very eager to find out whether the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi would be better than the Park Hyatt Dubai where I stayed a year ago. Please read my review of the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi.

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi

Location

The Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is located on Saadiyat Island which also hosts a few other 5 star resorts. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is located on the island as well, including other high profile museums which are still under development. When I drove up to the Park Hyatt, I got the impression that the island was man-made and that the Park Hyatt only recently opened up. However, the island is actually a natural island and the Park Hyatt already opened its doors in 2011! Again, that’s not the impression you get when you are driving on the road which leads to the Park Hyatt – there is still a lot of development going on and the Park Hyatt looks completely new.

Being located on the Saadiyat Island also means the Park Hyatt benefits from the great natural beach and view of the Persian Gulf.

I got upgraded to a Suite and the Suite didn’t disappoint. Nice design and great views of the resort and Persian Gulf. As with the hotel in general, everything looks new, clean and fresh and it’s hard to believe the resort opened its doors already 13 years ago. The Suite also had a huge balcony which was great to take some pictures, but during the Abu Dhabi summer, not specifically attractive to hang out with temperatures around 40C.

Breakfast

Breakfast is all you can ask for; a good selection of Asian and Western food and especially the selection of pastries is impressive – and what I tried myself tasted delicious! My benchmark for excellent breakfasts in Middle Eastern 5 star hotels is the Park Hyatt in Dubai. Even though the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi breakfast is perfectly fine, it doesn’t surprise or amaze which the Park Hyatt Dubai did!

Other notable mentions

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi

There are different swimming pools where the center pool is the most eye catching. Note though that the first half of the pool is purely for small children since it’s very shallow.

The Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is located next to a golf course which looks very attractive. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to play and to be honest, it was also too hot for me to play golf.

The hotel has 3 restaurants on side. One restaurant is buffet only and the other restaurant is an Argentina Steakhouse. There is also another restaurant next to the pool, but that’s closed in the evening during the summer low season. Of course there is also a 24 hour room service. The Park Hyatt Dubai offers a much broader selection of restaurants – in fact, I still remember the excellent sushi served at the Park Hyatt Dubai!

Conclusion

The Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is blessed with its location next to the Persian Gulf. Views are excellent and the Louvre Abu Dhabi is close by. It’s located next to a nice looking golf course which would be a nice challenge to play when it’s a lot cooler! I do prefer the Park Hyatt Dubai though; the Park Hyatt Dubai just feels more special and luxurious and has a lot more restaurants to choose from. Dubai also offers a lot more activities just around the corner of the hotel.
