I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile. The hotel really exceeded my expectations. Please read my review below to find out why!
Getting to the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile Hotel
I arrived at Paris CDG airport from Muscat in the early evening. I decided that the most efficient way to get to the hotel was to use the RER train. The hotel is part of the Palais de Congrès, one of the city’s congress centers. As such it’s easily reachable with public transport. The Neuilly Porte Maillot RER/Subway station is next door and you can walk directly from the station to the hotel via the congress center and a small shopping mall. The new RER station only opened a few months ago and that station was the first surprise of this trip; it was clean, and had a nice, open design. Not at all something that I expected from the French RER/Subway train stations… In fact, all stations looked a lot cleaner than they did during past visits. A good side-effect from the Olympic Games!
The room & view
After checking in, I headed to my room and the view from the room was spectacular! I didn’t expect that! Seeing the Tour d’Eiffel like this was amazing. And not just the Tour d’Eiffel! You could also spot the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. The room itself also didn’t disappoint. Even though the room wasn’t very big, it was certainly big enough for only myself. And more important, everything looked fresh, new and clean!
After looking at the view for several minutes, I noticed there was a nice welcome gift; some drinks and a little box with madeleines! These madeleines came in very handy when I took the Eurostar High Speed Train to Amsterdam the next day!
Bathroom was convenient and again, everything looked clean and fresh. This was a lot better than I expected!
Mayo Restaurant & Lounge
The Mayo restaurant is located next to the lobby. I visited the restaurant in the evening and it’s the perfect place to get something to eat after you just arrived, it’s already late and you don’t want to head out to the city.
In the morning I headed to the lounge which is located at the 34th floor of the hotel. This lounge is probably the nicest lounge I’ve ever visited in Europe, from any Hyatt or Marriott hotel. It has the great views, and the overall design is very nice. On top of that, they have a great breakfast selection – if you appreciate the French pastries!
The same space also serves as the ‘Windo Skybar‘ which is open for everyone, starting at 5PM.
Conclusion
There are lot of hotels to pick from in Paris, including hotels from the top luxury segment. Personally, I still have the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme on my bucket list to visit one time. Even though you cannot compare the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile with a Park Hyatt hotel, you won’t be disappointed staying in this hotel. It’s location next to the subway & RER station is very convenient, and the rooms are clean, fresh and pleasant to stay in. And to top it all off, there is the amazing and unique view which can be enjoyed from the room and from the lounge/skybar. Just make sure you do get a room with a view because it’s worth it!
I booked this room using Hyatt Points. Use my Hyatt Calculation tool to determine if it makes sense buying points instead of using cash to pay for you hotel room!
