Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Review

A few weeks ago I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. This hotel opened almost 20 years ago (2006) as the Novotel Bangkok Airport Hotel and was rebranded as a Hyatt Regency back in February 2025. Could this new addition to the Hyatt brand compete with some of the best Hyatt Airport hotels I recently visited? I’m referring to the Grand Hyatt Incheon and the Grand Hyatt SFO airport hotels. For me, the ‘gold standard’ when it comes to airport hotels. Please read my review below, to find out!

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Airport hotel is located next to the airport itself. There is a shuttle bus, but you don’t really need it. It’s only a 10 minutes walk from the arrivals/departure terminal to the hotel, using an underground passageway. On the way to the Hyatt Hotel, you are passing some alternative overnight stay locations… Surely the Hyatt hotel would be better?

Check-in & Hotel Lobby

The lobby of the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is a big open space. This big open space with the black, marble floors combined with the grey, stone facade of both hotel wings, gives the lobby a cold, office-like atmosphere. This might have looked modern 20 years ago, now it looks a bit dated.

At check-in, my globalist status was recognized and I was invited to the lounge to complete the check-in. Since I checked in at around 10PM, the lounge was deserted. Nevertheless, check-in could be completed and I was offered a tropical juice. A complimentary upgrade to a suite made the check-in procedure a very pleasant experience!

Because of my Globalist status, I could have breakfast the following day at the lounge or at the restaurant. The latter always has my preference so it’s nice to be offered the choice. Especially in this case, since breakfast in the restaurant already starts at 3AM! I don’t think I’ve ever seen breakfast service to start that early! Great to see that an airport hotel offers this kind of flexibility.

Room

The suite in the Hyatt Regency Airport Hotel was definitely spacious with the big, separate living room. However, especially the living room looked very outdated and tired. I looked at some pictures of reviews when the hotel was still a Novotel and all the rooms looked exactly the same. It seems the only thing that was changed, was the Novotel branding… That’s a bit disappointing. You would expect that a change of ownership (or at least a change in brand name) comes with a renovation and a big fresh-up.

Having said that, everything looked clean and I really liked the towel wrapped as an elephant, placed on the bed! That almost made up for the outdated living room! That wasn’t the only surprise though. After a few minutes, a welcome gift arrived.

Some drinks with some bites. That plate was really fantastic and these bites tasted great. The beer was exactly was I needed after a long day. What a great surprise!

Dining & Breakfast

Breakfast Hyatt Bangkok Airport hotel

Breakfast is served at the Market Cafe which is located in the Lobby Area. As stated, breakfast is open at 3AM and you can enjoy breakfast till 10:30. There is a decent offering but I wouldn’t rate it as an exceptional experience. Sufficient would be a good description.

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel also has a Chinese Restaurant, a Japanese Restaurant and of course, a Thai Restaurant. I didn’t try out these restaurants during my stay.

Conclusion

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is a Hyatt Category 2 hotel. This means that you can get a free night for 8,000 points with the standard rate. This could make it worthwhile to consider paying with points instead of cash for your hotel. In fact, that’s exactly what I did! You could even consider buying points (when there is a Hyatt Points Promotion) and use these points for your hotel stay. If you want to know more about this and want to know whether it’s worth it paying for points instead of cash, read my blog on this topic. It also comes with a points calculator!

Category 2 is probably the right category for this hotel. This hotel for sure isn’t in the league of ‘best airport hotels’. Don’t expect the luxury feeling you’re getting at the Grand Hyatt Airport Hotel hotels of San Francisco or Seoul. But if you are looking for a clean, quiet room, conveniently located next to the Bangkok Airport, that doesn’t break the bank, consider staying ay the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. The fact that it ‘just’ costs 8,000 points for a free night, makes it even better.

I also do need to mention the amazing service you’re getting in this hotel as a globalist. The complimentary drinks & bites were amazing and the room upgrade was much appreciated!

Also have a look at my video of Thai Airways in Business Class on their A350. A great experience with outstanding food!
