Last week I was finally able to fly with Air France La Premiere. By many considered the best First Class product in the world and certainly one of the most exclusive First Class cabins in the world. Could Air France live up to the expectations? Please read my Air France First Class La Premiere Review below!
Transfer CDG
My flight with Air France La Premiere was from Paris CDG to Dubai. But I first had a flight from Amsterdam to Paris CDG with Air France. Hence I had to transfer at the CDG airport. The CDG airport is huge and transferring can be a hassle. Luckily I didn’t have to figure out myself how to get to the terminal, nor how to get to the La Premiere lounge.
After disembarking the plane, I was awaited by a driver to bring me to the La Premiere Lounge. So instead of leaving the plane via the jet-bridge, I went down the stairs onto the tarmac. A Porsche Cayenne was waiting for me to bring me to the lounge. Here the La Premiere experience really takes off. The moment you’re driven to the lounge, you don’t need to think about the departing gate of your connecting flight anymore. Or even when boarding is starting. This is all trivial information; the staff at the La Premiere lounge will take care of all that.
La Premier Lounge
When it’s time to board, the driver will simply pick you up again, to drive you to your plane. In the mean time, you can enjoy a meal from the a-la-carte menu, the award winning wines, and even a complimentary facial massage.
I did pre-book the massage and that was just the perfect pre-flight routine. It’s just an amazing luxury to enjoy a relaxing massage while you would normally stand around the gate waiting anxiously to board the plane. I also had a light lunch with an amazing Chardonnay. Time was flying and before I knew it, I saw my driver asking if I wanted to board the plane. My passport and boarding pass were quickly checked – also in the lounge itself – and we drove off to the plane. Time for the La Premiere cabin experience!
The La Premiere Cabin
Air France introduced the current La Premiere cabin back in 2014. However, when entering the cabin, you cannot see it’s 10 years old. It still looks fresh and has the same understated feeling of luxury as the lounge. At the end of this year, Air France will introduce a new First Class cabin, but you won’t be disappointed when flying the current cabin.
What also doesn’t disappoint is the service. The first class cabin consists out of 4 seats and I was the only one flying first class during my trip to Dubai. Besides getting the full attention of the first class flight attendant, it also meant I had my own personal restroom / changing room during the trip. What a luxury! Before take-off, some snacks were served with mineral water. I also opted for a glass of Champaign which tasted excellent.
The meal service of Air France La Premiere is supposed to be one of the best in the airline industry so I was eager to find out what was served. I won’t describe every single dish, but the appetizer (caviar with more champaign) as well as the dessert (ice-cream with black forrest cake) and cheese plate were the highlights for me.
PJ’s are also provided and the seat can be transformed into a comfortable bed. This was probably the best sleep I ever had in a plane. Spacious, very comfortable and soft materials. Excellent!
Before landing, a small snack was served. I always appreciate it, if there is some surprising dish which also tastes very good. In this case, artichoke was served as an extra little dish and I absolutely loved it!
Conclusion Air France La Premiere
Air France First Class La Premiere is really a very special treat. It’s traveling at a completely different level and it takes away all the stress you normally encounter when you’re traveling by plane, even if you fly business class. The fact that you don’t need to worry about when to board, or where to find the gate is something really special. With big crowds and queues in most airports these days, just being able to skip all the queues, is definitely a very valuable experience. The service is impeccable at every level; from the driver bringing you to the plane, from the service in the La Premiere Lounge to the service in the cabin – it’s all at the highest standard.
Flying Air France La Premier was on my wishlist for a long time and I was happy I was finally able to do it. And more important, that it didn’t disappoint!
