During my recent trip to Vietnam, I took a little break and stayed with the family in the Hyatt Regency Danang. We already stayed there 5 years ago and we were really looking forward coming back. This time it really exceeded my expectations. Please read why I think the Hyatt Regency Danang is a fantastic family resort.
The Resort
The Hyatt Regency Danang is located 20 minutes from the International Airport. The stretch of road which runs along the coastline of Da Nang is filled with resorts. Other notable resorts are the Furama and the Marriott, but in my opinion The Hyatt Regency is the best one especially if you visit with children. There are several swimming pools at the resort. The main swimming pool also has a slide. There is another swimming pool specifically for smaller children – this one is next to the children activity center. If you have lounge access, you can also access the swimming pool connected to the lounge, which is in a relatively quite area of the resort.
The lounge is one of the best lounges of any Hyatt I’ve visited. The lounge is very welcoming, with great service and a great food selection – Western as well as Asian.
But you don’t need to have lounge access to enjoy the food offering in this resort. There are 3 different restaurants and they often organize a BBQ in the evening. There is also a bakery with a great bread selection. Of course they serve the Banh Mi – which is really good – but also croissants and pastries.
Rooms
During our stay we booked a suite with a connecting room for the kids. I really like the interior design and the luxury feeling. In fact, I think the design wouldn’t misfit in a Park Hyatt hotel. We stayed in a similar suite and room 5 years ago and the rooms look as new and clean as 5 years ago.
Activities
The Hyatt Regency Danang is probably the best resort I know for organizing children activities – for small children as well as teenagers. They dramatically extended the activities compared to 5 years ago. Our children – 11 and 13 years old – were busy every day between 2 and 3 hours and truly enjoyed it. They were busy with pizza making – something they also did 5 years ago so that was really funny to see – designing cupcakes, and making cocktails. Designing the cupcakes was in the ‘Little Chef’ restaurant that comes with a 3D movie experience. The resort also has a game room with free video games and air hockey and they also organize some competitions in the game room. On top of that, there is also a soccer field with organized soccer training and competition. All the entertainment staff is really great and make sure all the children have a fantastic time.
Conclusion
The Hyatt Regency Danang really exceeded our expectations during this trip. This was mainly because of the activities they are organizing for the children. The resort was already a great place to stay, with nicely designed rooms, and a good selection of restaurants. The lounge is exceptional and probably the best lounge of any Hyatt hotel globally I’ve seen.
