One of my favorite European cities to visit is Zurich and the Park Hyatt Zurich is one of the best places to stay when you’re there. Whether visiting for business or pleasure, in both cases the Park Hyatt won’t disappoint. If you’re not visiting for business though, you’ll regret not being able to expense the costs, because it’s not a cheap stay. But that’s to be expected, with Swiss cities being among the most expensive cities in Europe.
The Park Hyatt Zurich is perfectly located in the middle of the center, just off the Bahnhofstrasse and near the lake. But despite being centrally located, it’s still in a relatively quite area. The hotel has an underground parking garage, so parking is also not a problem. Even better, if you’re booking the hotel with Hyatt points, you don’t need to pay for the daily parking fee which is normally 45CHF.
As is the case with all the Park Hyatt hotels, the interior is designed with understated luxury and comes with lots of works of art. All the spaces and rooms create an atmosphere of welcome and relaxation. The excellent service plays a big part in this. During breakfast there is always someone near to offer you something you didn’t even know you needed. And unlike in some European Michelin star restaurants, it doesn’t feel awkward, on the contrary.
The rooms are spacious especially if you opt for the suite which comes with an additional, large living room. Each room comes with an oversized flatscreen TV and B&O audio system.
Switzerland is famous for its chocolate and during my last stay I was very happy to see a selection of complementary chocolate in my room. It was delicious!
Breakfast is a real joy at the Park Hyatt Zurich. There is an extensive a-la-carte selection as well as a buffet with a lot of freshly baked pastries. Obviously, the quality of the food is outstanding and there really is no better way to start the day.
In the afternoon and evening the Onyx bar, which also offers outdoor seating, is a good place to unwind.
The hotel has a Spa & Fitness center but doesn’t have a swimming pool. So during the summer you will have to resort to the various outdoor swimming pools near the lake – the Badi’s – and that’s not a bad thing!
Conclusion
With its excellent location, fabulous service, and luxurious feeling, I strongly recommend the Park Hyatt Zurich. Unfortunately, the Hyatt moved to Category 8 in 2023. This means that now you cannot use your Category 1-7 Globalist voucher anymore. The number of points therefore required to book a room, sits in the highest Category 8. Room rates start at around 550CHF during the off-peak period. Expect to pay around 750CHF during the busy summer season.
