Hyatt Place Austin Airport

Hyatt Place Austin Airport Review

Last week I had a stopover in Austin. I arrived around 10PM in Austin and th next morning, I had to fly out to Philadelphia. It was not really worth it staying in downtown for this short stop, hence I decided to stay at the Hyatt Place close to the Austin Airport. Please read my review below of my stay at the Hyatt Place Austin Airport.

Reception Area Hyatt Place Austin Airport

Location & Check-In

The Hyatt Place Austin Airport is a short shuttle bus ride from the terminal. Shuttle bus service is complementary but it’s recommended to have the phone number of the hotel ready, so you can call the hotel to ask for the shuttle bus. I only had to wait a few minutes for the shuttle bus to arrive.

Check-in was quick and efficient. For this stay I booked a King Suite which was almost the same price as a regular room. Big advantage of the King Suite room was that it was a corner room, which I always prefer.

salad

I arrived around 10:30PM at the hotel. The bar/restaurant area was open till midnight and you could still order pizza or a salad at that time. That was actually more than I had expected, and I just went for a pre-packaged salad. And for a pre-packaged salad, the taste wasn’t actually too bad. By 11PM, I was ready to check out the room and go to sleep!

The King Suite Room

The King Suite Rooms at the Hyatt Place Austin Airport are bit bigger than a regular room, but more important, the King Suites are located in the quiet corners of the hotel. I think that’s already worth the extra few bucks. Everything looks clean and fresh and there is enough room to move around – also in the bathroom. Don’t expect an impressive view out to the Austin Airport. A view to the carpark is all you are going to get, but again, this hotel is not competing with the Grand Hyatt at SFO!

Breakfast Area Hyatt Place Austin Airport

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the restaurant/ bar area next to the reception. There is a buffet but the breakfast choices on offer are very limited. I would rate this at the very low end of Hyatt Places Breakfasts. I took a tea and a small bowl of cereal and was already planning for a stop at the Starbucks at the Austin Airport and the American Airlines lounge!

Conclusion

If you want an airport hotel close to the airport terminal of Austin International Airport (5 minutes shuttle bus ride), which provides clean, fresh and quiet rooms, you really cannot go wrong with the Hyatt Place Austin Airport. Of course, you shouldn’t expect a luxurious stay with a nice breakfast. But for a US based Hyatt Place, this is very representative and this hotel delivers exactly what you can expect. Surely there are better Airport hotels, even better Hyatt Place Airport hotels, such as the Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport hotel, but this hotel doesn’t disappoint. I had a good sleep and after a quick shuttle but trip back to the terminal, I still had plenty of time to get a decent cappuccino at the airport!
